Meet Tessa

Everything I have learnt I try to bring that across to students in a safe, creative, accessible, and empowering way.  Yoga has brought balance to my life in so many ways, physically, mentally, and energetically. I believe Yoga can give us the tools to get the most out of life and be comfortable with discomfort all sorts. I am honoured to assist others in discovering this for themselves.

I was first drawn to Yoga while I was in high school. Thinking Yoga would be a great balance to my passions of riding horses and fitness training. It didn’t take long for me to find out how many more benefits I would receive beyond the physical ones. I took Yoga teacher training in 2010 Trinity Yoga Centre (a Kripalu affiliate school) in Kelowna BC, Canada and it became my full time job shortly after. I also completed my SUP Yoga teacher training with SUP Vancouver in 2012. I have had the privilege to practice and train in many styles of  Yoga since then and discover what Yoga is for me and how to create an inclusive experience for my students.

I love being inspired and sponge up any opportunity to learn.  So, in 2017 I embarked on an intensive journey to accomplish my 300hr advanced teacher training with Lila Vinyasa.  This course was just what I needed to push my practice and offering as a teacher.  The people I met along this journey lit up my life I feel grateful to have spent several weeks immersed in Yoga teachings with the most cohesive group I could have imagined.  The requirements for this course have challenged me on every level and I am continually working towards completing the post requisites and elevate my offerings.

Horses and paddle-boarding have been such a passion of mine while living in the Okanagan. So I was extremely excited to be able to offer classes not only in Kelowna but, at Yukon’s Edge Yoga retreat. This retreat, which we started in 2017, has been one of my dreams come true.  It includes all of my passions. Yoga, horseback riding, SUP yoga, healthy food, local wine and one of the most stunning and remote valleys in British Columbia. The retreat offers an unplugged environment where guests get to be at one with nature and reset their nervous systems.

I hope by living these teachings I can enhance my life and the life of others.

Yoga mentorship is one of the most valuable tools that polished my teachings. I want to share this coaching method with those wishing to re-inspire or refine their teachings.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
